Hi
there folks,
I think we're all
becoming aware of the need to tread a little more carefully with
regards to our rapidly-depleting energy resources.
If you feel like it's time that you made an active contribution to
helping the environment, how about taking on a home do-it-yourself
project that not only will give you great
satisfaction, but is super-cheap, will pay itself off in no time,
AND
is good for the planet too? How can you go wrong with that?
And as
you'll read below, I've had firsthand experience at building solar
panels and a wind turbine, and I can vouch that it's a really
satisfying experience.
Above is a really great DIY guide that
I recommend, which covers everything you need to know from start to
finish about building and installing your own solar panels and wind
turbines
I
think it's been
pretty clear for some time, that
energy costs are headed upward, and they won't be coming down
again.
With an environmental crisis looming and the government dragging its
feet in addressing the issue, it's not surprising that many people are
seeking to apply their own solution to the problem.
Thanks
to the
increase in awareness of our environmental problems, and the wealth of
shared information available on the internet, it has now become
cost-effective to build home made solar kit panels and wind turbines. These are now extremely cheap and easy to make and install, and the savings that can
be made in power usage and installation costs are just
staggering.
To put the solar power cost into perspective, it
is easily possible to get your first solar panel built and installed
and saving you money for under $200, as compared to $4000, $6000, all
the way
up to $30,000 or even more, when quoted by a commercial solar energy
installation
company. It's a similar story with commercially- built
windmills,
which can easily set you back over $5000 for just a single turbine,
when you can easily build and install your own, also
for well
under $200. And the really great thing is that these two
systems
compliment each other. Add in some battery storage for the
excess
power you create, and
Charge
the
electricity company for the power you generate:
As I have highlighted in my review,
there
are
a
couple
of
fantastic
stand-out
diy
guides for solar
kits and wind turbines
available
on
the
Internet that make the
whole process
simple. The use of videos, photos, diagrams, explanations,
and
ongoing backup support that can answer any question makes sure that
you get your solar pannels and turbines built, installed and
operational as quickly as possible.
Also,
these
guides
divulge
a
secret
that
the
power
companies
don't
want
you
to
know
about, by explaining how you can even get THEM to pay YOU
for the energy you create.
Until
recently,
personally I had absolutely no idea that full-scale
home green energy can be done by just about anyone - I thought that you
needed to be an experienced handyman, an electrician, and a science
geek all rolled into one to be able to pull off a significant solar kit
DIY project, or even to get home wind power up and running.
But
as it turns out, people from all walks of life -
basically you, your friends, and your workmates - are getting back to
basics, and actually building your very own solar kit panels and wind
turbines from scratch. I recently helped my brother-in-law,
who
had no previous handyman projects under his belt, to build both a solar
panel and a wind turbine and mount them on top of his garage.
We
had a great time, found the process pretty easy and straight
forward,
and afterward sat down to a cold beer from a refrigerator that was now
being powered by the renewable green energy that we had created.
It's a pretty good feeling when you get to a milestone like that.
Installing a
home-made
solar panel array
Why is
this
catching on so fast?
It
turns out that it's not only my brother in law who has caught the DIY
renewable energy bug, but a lot of
other people are also getting really
pumped about this. By putting together the feedback from many enthusiasts across lots of internet forums, I found
out that the main reasons people are so excited about building their own
green energy devices are:
This can save you a HEAP of money,
where you can
cut
down your
energy bills progressively all the way down to zero - yes,
ZERO.
Not
only that, but if you play your cards right, you can even get the
electricity company to pay YOU, for the excess energy you create
There's also amazing savings to be had
in the
actual installation
costs. Many people initially had quotes in the tens of thousands
of dollars by 'reputable' solar installation companies to fit our their
homes, and in the end, they found that they could create and install their
own panels for just a few hundred dollars of solar power cost.
It makes you feel great about yourself,
and gives
you a real sense
of satisfaction, to build something that is EASY to make, and yet so
useful and worthwhile that you can proudly show off your handiwork to
your family and friends
It almost goes without saying that the
environment,
and indeed the
whole planet, could use all the help it can get right now.
Every
watt
of clean, renewable energy that can be utilised in place of fossil fuel
energy created from a global-warming-coal-fired power plant just helps
tip the balance back a little in favour of the Earth's long term
sustainability
Many parents, apart from
wanting to see their kids
grow up in a healthy environment, get the kids involved in a
wind turbine / solar kit DIY project to teach them that they are never
too young to make a positive impact on the planet, and to give them a
sense of pride and accomplishment. And all this while they
learn
some
practical handy skills that will serve them well through their lives.
Should
everybody be doing this?
Now,
I
have to admit that I live in apartment with my wife, cat and 2
goldfish, so it just
isn't practical for me to go building some decent sized solar pannels
or
wind turbines, then try to convince the building super to let me
install
them up on the roof. So, in truth, maybe this kind of energy
solution
is not suitable for everyone. But plenty of people like my
sister and her family do live in
detached
houses, with a roof that catches sunlight for many hours per day, or
where a wind turbine could be mounted to catch the breeze day or
night.
So for those in my situation who are worried that we are missing out
all the
fun, savings and satisfaction, you might like to consider people that
you know who could really benefit from this, and maybe you could help
out with a great DIY project that's very satisfying and a lot of fun.
Or
think about how great
it would be to make portable solar kits and wind turbines that could
be taken on camping trips, to let you enjoy creature comforts like warm
showers, or to power up little luxury items like coffee machines or
hair dryers.

Getting
on
board with green energy for your home is one of the most responsible
things that you can do for yourself and the environment.
Apart
from
the small investment in getting started with a renwable energy DIY
guide,
some very inexpensive solar kit or wind turbine component materials (a
hint - for a wind turbine, a cheap PVC pipe will get you halfway
there), and a small slice
of your
own time, you'll reap the benefits in savings for years to come.
So you can really delve
into the topic, I've also included some relevant articles on this site
for you to read and become better informed. Feel free

greener living.

Hi Jim,
Just wanted to thank you, and let you know that your recent phone
review
was absolutely spot on. You've saved me lots of time and
frustration, and it's great to know that I can count on you to cut
through the hype and tell it like it is.
Thanks again, buddy.
