Market Leader Comparison

GreenDIYenergy vs. Earth4Energy

The first thing I'd like to do is cut straight to the chase for my conclusion, to save you from having to pore over every detail of the review if you don't want to.

First of all, I bought these 2 market-leading Solar Kit DIY products and gave them a thorough health check of the quality of the information, the way in which it is presented, and how it measures up against my knowledge of DIY solar energy.

I also di
d a lot of research across the Internet on what other people who have bought and used these products have been saying, and the feedback they gave on their experience.

MY CONCLUSION?  I recommend....

(By the way, the last time I checked, GreenDIYEnergy was being discounted to the special price of $49.97. I don't know how long they'll be holding it there, so if you're keen, you'd better move quickly)

So why was GreenDIYenergy
the better choice?

To put it simply, this guide truly achieves its promise to consumers, in taking what at first appears to be a daunting task, and presenting the steps so clearly that even an absolute beginner can succeed with assembling their solar energy kit components.

Anyone who puts their mind and a little effort into building a renewable energy source for their home will be filled with confidence and will be able to reach their goal.

And what about Earth4Energy?

E4E DIY home solar kit product
(I checked this price recently too, and there's clearly a discount price war going on, because Earth4Energy was also on special for $49.97 - I'm not sure for how long)

Look, in all honesty, the standard of both of these products is really terrific, they've achieved huge popularity on YouTube, been written up and endorsed in other forums such as Popular Mechanics, and truly are the real deal.

I encourage you to check out the websites for both products, to confirm for yourself my findings, but GreenDIYenergy is the overwhelming favorite Solar Kit DIY guide for me.

Recouping Your Up Front Costs Quickly
With A Solar Kit DIY Installation

By Jim Dunne

Over the last 20 years or so, the dismissive attitude of the general public toward residential solar power has gradually changed, and many people have now begun to see the benefits of utilizing solar power for your home.

So many more people are talking about this, and a wave of awareness is sweeping the nation, and indeed the world.  Scientists and humanitarians are winning recongnition and awards for their work in bringing home to the general public the consequences of global warming, and as governments do not seem to be moving fast enough to combat the problem caused by dirty energy creation and pollutants from manufacturing, the general population have started to seek out answers for themselves.

This has come about because of rising energy costs as compared to solar power cost, the growing awareness of the human impact on climate change, the increased availability on the market of solar kit components, and the proliferation of solar panel installer companies who now offer full-blown renewable energy systems for the home market.

Government bodies within many countries across the globe have also recognized the benefits of a renewable energy culture, and are offering financial incentives to people who invest in a renewable energy system for their homes.  And making the most of this situation with solar rebates are the many companies now providing a solar kit installation service to home owners.

Although the cost is certainly less prohibitive than it once was, the upfront expense can still be a stumbling block.  There's no getting around the fact that that a solar energy system that will supply enough energy to meet the needs of the average home can cost upwards of $10,000 and sometimes reach at $20,000 or beyond.

Even with a rebate from the government to offset some cost, the initial cost might still represent 10 years of energy bills, paid upfront.  This commitment is out of reach of many ordinary householders.

If this sounds like your situation, then don't worry, because help is at hand.  You don't need to bring in a solar energy installer, because this type of project can be performed by ordinary people.  You can individually source the parts for your solar kit at a fraction of the cost that an installer will quote you, and by performing a do-it-yourself installation, starting from $200 all up, an enormous saving can be made against any solar kit installation by a commercial company.

You don't need specialist knowledge, you don't have be a scientist, you don't need to be a solar electricity expert, and you don't even have to be particularly handy with DIY projects.  You will however need a few everyday tools, and some clear instructions to lead you through the process.  Given those things, you'll have your system built and installed in no time, so all you need to know is where to start.

See Solar Kit Components Explained to find out what components make up a solar kit, and how to access DIY Solar Kit Guides that can walk you through the entire project from start to finish.

Solar Kit Components Explained

By Jim Dunne

There are a number of fundamental components in a solar kit, but this depends on whether the system is designed only to supplement grid energy while sunlight is available, or whether you want your system to store the energy collected during sunlight hours to be utilized at a later time.

First up we have a number of photovoltaic cells, wired together to form a solar panel.  This is also known as a photovoltaic panel, or a PV panel.  Several panels wired together form a solar panel array.

The solar panel output is produced as Direct Current (or DC) electricity, which must then either be stored within a bank of solar batteries, or converted using a devices called Solar Inverters to Alternating Current (or AC) for the immediate powering of devices around the home.  The inverter is also used for converting the DC power stored in the batteries when you want your appliances to run from those.

Lastly, when utilizing batteries in your solar kit system, you'll need a device called a charge controller to monitor the charging of the solar batteries up to the correct voltage.  It is very important that the components of your solar kit are aligned to work correctly together, to prolong the life of the system and to get the most solar efficiency out of it.  This includes the gauge of wire that is used to transfer the electricity, and other factors.

You'll also need other sundry items like mounting brackets and other hardware, to ensure that your solar kit system is installed properly and safely.

At this point, you might be thinking that this sounds very complicated, but truly it is not.  On the Internet, there are some terrific DIY Solar Kit guides available that will step you through the process from beginning to end, specifically designed for people who have little or no handyman skills.  Within several of these guides, much attention is given to sourcing inexpensive solar kit components, even noting where some of these might be able to be obtained for zero cost.

A couple of the best-selling guides have been reviewed on this website, to help demonstrate how thoroughly these topics are covered.  Check out this edition's Solar Kit DIY Guide Review to help you decide which of these guides may be the most helpful to you in getting your home cut over to free renewable energy

$200 is very realistic cost target for getting the first of your solar panels built and installed.  Just one solar panel won't be adequate for powering your entire home, but it will certainly create savings on your energy bill.  The low solar energy cost savings can be put toward expanding your solar kit system, which will create more savings, again allowing you to expand.

Eventually, for just that initial investment of $200 coming directly out of your pocket, you will be able to grow your system to encompass your entire home's energy requirements.  And you should still be eligible for all the rebates that you would normally get for a commercial install.

In conclusion, stop and think before you engage a commercial solar energy company and commit many thousands of dollars up front.  You could instead gain a huge financial saving from sourcing and installing your own DIY solar kit, not to mention the huge boost to your pride and sense of accomplishment, in completing a DIY project that brings such tangible benefits to yourself, your family and the environment.
